First, a sincere thanks to those who helped realize our project!
Your efforts are greatly appreciated; this would not be what it has
become without you.
Let there be no doubt that the feel of this movie was inclined more
toward a showcasing of content than a cinematic experience. You are
encouraged to check out the included demos!
Quake III settings used were
VQ3 Physics (Quake III default)
/g_synchronousClients 1
/pmove_fixed 0
/sv_fps 125
with no deviation from the default timescale value (1.0) and no macros
other than the "industry standard" rocket jump bind:
/+moveup;+attack
This is the essence of pure freestyle trickjumping. It is the result
of tens of thousands of attempts, countless hours-long sessions, and
over four years of experience in the field.
There is no trickery nor confusion here; we do not feel the need to
play around with or mislead our viewers. It is with great distress
that I come to the realization that the place for pure freestyle is
subsiding in favor of methods such as timescale manipulation and the
use of complicated macros.
The possibilities are endless with the use of these elements and
exploration takes a whole new outlook, but I can't help but feel that
the passion being put forth isn't nearly what the purist perspective
yields. In this sense, the horizons are being broadened, but the
artform itself is consequently suffering. It doesn't help matters that
there are those out there who find personal gain in the deception of
others. Remember that what you see and what you hear is not always the
reality of things.
Finally, thank you for taking the time to download, and I hope you
enjoy(ed) the production!
-Rob
